California Adventure

We were up early again the next day for California Adventure.  We had a plan.  We had talked to “people” before our trip and knew that if we wanted to go on the “Cars” ride that we had to go there first.  Our plan was to get a fast pass for Cars and then go on the ride first thing so that we could go twice.  It seems like that was everyone else’s plan too!  When we go there, the park wasn’t open yet, but there were a ton of people just waiting to get down the street that leads to the Cars ride.  We thought we would take some pictures to pass the time so we wandered down a different street that had almost no one.  Down the road a bit was a trolley with Chip and Dale waving at the few passers by.  We thought we would try to see if they would sign the girls hats.  As we walked toward them, a park worker stopped us and asked us if we planned to go on the Holleywood Tower Hotel ride.  Of course we did.  She then said, “We are looking for someone to be our first family today.  You will get to ride the trolley with Chip and Dale and then go on the ride first and be all by yourselves.  Do you want to do that?”

Um, YES!!!

So that’s what we did.  We gave up on our plan and went with something better.  It was awesome.  The whole thing….except for the part that Miranda and Dreyken were not prepared to go on the scariest ride of the park very first.  We had to coax them on (read drag!) through tears, and honestly, I didn’t think we would get them on.  BUT, they did it.  Miranda ended up LOVING the ride. Dreyken did not, but she was a trouper for trying it.  Here are pictures from that “Magic Moment” adventure.

They gave us the picture for free, including a digital copy.  SO COOL!!  Thank you Disney!20140926_110043

Then, that day for lunch, we had a plan to surprise Miranda and Dreyken with a princess lunch at Ariel’s Grotto.  We dressed them like princesses for the day.  They were so excited when they found out they would get to meet some princesses!!IMG_0114IMG_0083

First they were met by Princess Ariel herself.

Then they brought us our three course lunch, throughout the lunch, different princesses visited our table.  We were in the perfect spot.  They presented each princess, they each went to one table to our right and then they came to us.  Each one took time to visit with each table.  It was so fun to watch the girls meet them!

First, Princess Minnie came.  IMG_0143

Then we got to meet Belle.IMG_0158IMG_0130IMG_0134

Then Princess Aurora (AKA Sleeping Beauty) arrived.

And finally Cinderella came.  The girls were most enchanted by her, I think.  So fun!

We then enjoyed some dessert …YUM!IMG_0189

Then headed on back out to the park.  Such a fun memory for moms and girls!!  IMG_0196

It was also awesome to have mom and dad there.  While we were meeting princesses they were with the big kids going on big roller coasters that the girls couldn’t go on and getting lunch too.  Thanks again mom and dad…

The entire vacation was even more spectacular because you were there.

We spent the rest of the day going on rides.  We also watched a great show, Aladdin. They pretty much put on a play of the entire show for us.  It was really awesome and the Genie was hilarious!  We lucked out for that performance as well.  We were getting in line and asking where the nearest bathroom was and how to get back in line after we went, when the lady just said, “Here, go see that guy and you guys can go in that line.”  It ended up being the line that let us in first and we sat on the second row for the show.  We were so lucky that day!!

Here are a few random pictures from our day at California Adventure.

Disneyland Surprise!

Last spring my sister Courtney and I decided we wanted to take our kiddos to Disneyland!!  We wanted to stay close and only do the park…Our husbands don’t really love theme parks as much as we do so we thought it would be awesome for them to stay home with the little ones while we took only those who could walk and NO DIAPERS Winking smile  So we planned to take our oldest three kids and we invited our parents to come with us too.  We managed to keep it a secret until that week from all of them.  I didn’t tell my kids until the night before we left.  Kanyon thought I was telling them that we were having another baby!!  I think he was much happier with the trip to Disneyland!

We left on Wednesday, September 24.  20140924_08201520140924_08574720140924_092944I had talked to the kids teachers and got their homework ahead of time.  I made them work on it in the airport.  Such a mean mom!  20140924_11375020140924_113757

We flew to Los Angeles and met everyone else there.  Can I just say, I am SO glad I don’t live there??!!  The traffic was crazy and we only had to drive from the airport to our hotel.  It should have taken about 30 minutes but it took about ninety!  Crazy.  Our hotel was right across the street from Disney.  We could walk there in about 5 minutes.  The first night we got settled and let the kids play in the hotel pool.  We had two rooms that adjoined so it was fun to all be together.

We were up bright and early the next morning and ready to venture into the park. IMG_9911

We had worked it out so Faith (my dad’s sister, Ruth’s daughter) could come with us. It was the first time that our kids had been to Disneyland.  IMG_9907Miranda and Dreyken were especially excited.  Right off the bat we met Mickey and Minnie.20140925_07514020140925_075146

IMG_9917IMG_9924We had hats for the characters to sign for the two little girls.  What a great souvenir.  Every time we met someone new, they would sign the hat.  20140925_073754

Then we spent the rest of the day riding the rides and attractions of Disneyland!!  The kids had a great time and the lines were really good.  It was Thursday and we made use of the Fast Passes really well.  Here are some snapshots of our day.

This is one of my favorite pictures of the whole trip!  I LOVE the random guy behind mom.  This was the first time we went on Splash Mountain.  We went many, many more times!! Love this ride!

They came home exhausted and excited to go again the next day!!
