Summer has Begun

I know that school has been out for a couple weeks, but in Coeur d’Alene, summer doesn’t really start until you can jump in the lake.  We have been in the lake a little bit, but tonight for mutual, we planned a trip to the city park.  Jodi was kind enough to come along and watch my kids and her kids at the park.  Of course, they ended up in the lake….at 8:00 at night, this was the scene.

And they couldn’t be happier!!

8 months

Shylee is now 8 months old.  She is such a happy baby.  We think she is awesome.  She is now starting to crawl and is sitting very well.  The crawling thing came out of the blue.  One night, I went to work like usual.  I came home in the morning and fed her, then I went to bed.  When I woke up later that afternoon, she was crawling.  We took this video...

I asked Leonard, "When did she start crawling?"  and he said, "She's crawling??!!"  It was pretty funny.  I know the video looks like she has been doing it for awhile, but I promise...its her first day!  Crazy.  That actually happened on June 7th.  Now she is crawling well and gets around where ever she might want to go.  She is still not a big eater of "real" food, but she loves to nurse.  We are having trouble with her at night.  She likes to sleep with us in our bed.  I am the one to blame, as I seem to fall asleep while nursing her and then just leave her in bed with us.  I know she is big enough to make it through the night without eating, but she doesn't seem to know that yet!  So, I usually still feed her twice at night, around 1-2:00 and again around 5-6:00.  We seem to always be tired.  Here is some evidence....

 But she is a very happy baby, so there are some good sides too.    She is starting to laugh and she loves her brother and sisters.  They love this little girl right back. 

Shylee hates medicine

Shylee has continued to rub at her ears and just generally not feel well since her 6 month check up.  I took her back to the doctor and her ear infection has never gone away.  They put her back on antibiotics – stronger ones this time.  SHE HATES THEM!  It is like torture to get her to take them twice per day.  She has some pretty great faces though and we tried to catch them on camera….

Get better quick little girl.  This is especially hard on me!

Little League–Orioles

Kanyon played baseball again with Little League. 

I love watching baseball.  It reminds me of all that is summer.  It reminds me of my family, especially my Grandpa Parry.   I hope to instill that love in Kanyon.  He seems to have the bug. 

This year he played on the Orioles.  We didn’t know anyone on his team and we didn’t know the coaches.  That seemed to put a little dent in his playing time but Kanyon took it all in stride.  He played a lot of left and center field and did a great job.  At the end of the year, his coach said he could always count on Kanyon to play where the team needed him without Kanyon complaining about his position.  I liked what he said about that.  He said, “I can’t coach that.  That is just in you.  You are a great kid.”  Good job Kanyon.  I love to watch you play.

Miranda’s Kindergarten Graduation

Miranda graduated from Kindergarten!  She has grown so much this year!  I remember her being so nervous to start school, yet so excited at the same time.  She loved her teacher, Mrs. Piedmont.  I can’t believe how fast time flies.  I remember bringing home this dark-eyed girl from the hospital and how excited her siblings were to finally have her home.  Now her baby teeth are falling out, she can write all her letters, knows all her letter sounds, can count to over 100, and she is very quickly learning to read.  Not to mention what a beautiful girl she is.  Everyone always comments on Miranda’s eyes and her long eyelashes.  What’s not to love?!!

Don’t worry, it gets better.  Our friends were sitting right next to us and they were trying out their new fancy camera.  He got some great pictures!!
