Little Shylee was finally feeling better so we could celebrate her birthday. She turned 1 on October 15. It was about a week late – better late then never, right?! This little thing has stolen our hearts. She is sweet, coy, shy, happy, feisty, adorable, and smart – all rolled into one chubby package. We love her. Obviously.
A few things to remember about Shylee….
- We call her Shy-Shy – not really sure why, but I think it’s pretty cute.
- She says “OOOOOO” a lot. It is her vowel of choice. See above picture
- She can’t walk yet, but she walks all over the house on her knees. She seems a little scared to stand on her feet. She is really fast at crawling, and seems to work well for her right now, so why change??!!
- She has just finished nursing
Which makes me a little sad. She is happy to try anything we put in front of her though and seems to be a good eater. She loves milk in a bottle, warmed up just a bit. She also loves yogurt, bananas, peaches and she’d starting to like oatmeal. She doesn’t really like anything cold – like ice cream. Silly girl!
- She likes to play peek-a-boo and will jump on you if you lay on the ground. She also loves to climb in Skeeter’s bed – even if the dog is in it.
- She doesn’t like it when the kids wrestle Leonard. Maybe it’s too loud or she is worried about them, who knows?! But she cries if she is in the room when they do it.
- She LOVES men! So funny because the women at church will offer to hold her and she almost always cries, but if they pass her to their husbands, she is perfectly content. She even reaches out of our laps for some of them. It’s pretty funny. Especially because they are usually quite surprised.
Here are a few pictures of the party. The “smash cake” was a hit with Shylee. The kids thought it was pretty funny!
And a new car seat from Grandma and Grandpa Fuller. Yay!!
