On day #3, February 13, we didn’t have any plans. We also didn’t have a car. We had breakfast at the resort and then headed out on the beach to take a walk. There was surprisingly little beach combing to be done. Hardly any shells to be found. There was lots of coral, however, and several crab holes that my husband had to dig up. In one of them, we found this little guy.
Creepy, huh! They were super fast, and did not really like to be dug up. They want to be left alone, but Leonard couldn’t help himself. Our short walk along the beach turned into a 3.5 mile walk up the coastline to the next town where we got some lunch, then walked back home. It was awesome to just keep going and not worry. One time I said to Len that I felt like we should call and tell someone that we would be gone longer then we thought – but there was no one to call!
The other thing we had started to notice is that on Kauai, there are chickens EVERYWHERE. Literally. It’s crazy how many chickens there are. We took lots of pictures of chickens because we knew the kids would like them. We thought they were pretty cool too. Leonard tried to figure out if it was legal to have one for dinner. We never found out, and didn’t have a way to cook one anyway – so the chickens were safe – for now.
